Planned: gonna do a cool thing where the things you do to your character in a round will persist
Get a cool haircut? Save it. Get a cool tattoo? Awesome. Get a cool scar? It'll stick with you, as long as you don't die. Become a ferret person? Sure, save that too and that'll be your New Self.
This also means: paperwork related to you. You can build up a real -ass rap sheet! Medical records. Etc.
Or you can get your name changed for free or small tip/bribe by the HoP.
There will probably be some means of adding/removing traits as well. Or traits that are caused by in game things and go away over time. Who knows?
Exceptions are genetic super powers: those are a per-round thing! And perhaps certain cyber/synth limb/organ things. There are always upsides and downsides to these things.
But if you want to always start a round with a cow body and a missing leg, well, that's you, buddy!
Right now if you survive, you keep your gun. Any exceptionally illegal parts will be swapped out and replaced with a more standard component. The really good stuff is meant to be per-round.
There may or may not be some kind of storage unit where you can deposit and retrieve your piece.
Who knows, maybe there will be things you learn that you wanna keep track of. Or there will be things out there that will see you and what you do and remember that, too. Imagine that, NPCs holding grudges.
Anyway, it's a bit of a big effort but a contextual in-game reference that is related to what you know as a player can come in handy. Look at an operating table and get a popup of everything your character knows about surgery? Dang, that's handy.
